Stuart Scott — Update After spending some time earlier this winter at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Stuart is now back in Hawaii. Upon his return, he spent some time at home doing some planning and preparation for COP26, along with focussing on his health. He is now staying with a friend in Maui and hoping to get some much needed rest. Unfortunately, as a result of the neuropathy that follows chemotherapy, he is currently experiencing a great deal of pain in his neck, arms, wrists and hands, and now needs to drastically reduce the amount of typing and other tasks he does on his computer, which means that he’ll be reducing the number of emails that he’ll be dealing with. He will be going back to the Mayo in April for further tests and to discuss next steps with the medical staff. Note: Stuart is looking for a personal assistant in Honolulu to help with various tasks. If you are able to help, please contact us at [email protected] SW Youtube Channel We invite you to view and share videos from the Scientists’ Warning YouTube channel: https://www.scientistswarning.tv We are proud to share a powerful 30-minute documentary, Rollbacks, An Assault of Life on Earth, which was produced by Old Dog Documentaries (Anne Macksoud & John Ankele) of Woodstock, Vermont. This must-see film highlights the lies and corruption of Donald Trump, with a focus on the reversal of environmental and wildlife protection laws that have taken place during Trump’s presidency. Please watch and distribute widely. Rollbacks – An Assault Against Life on Earth For more information about how you can help with it’s distribution go to our blog post. We encourage you to do public and private screenings. Please let us know when you do so by email to [email protected] In addition, one of our recent videos, Rollbacks – The Menace of Donald Trump, was recorded in Madrid, Spain, on the last day of COP25, and features Stuart Scott, as well as Dan Galpern, environmental attorney. This program presents clips and commentary pertaining to “Rollbacks – An Assault Against Life on Earth”, the 30-minute documentary. Rollbacks – The Menace of Donald Trump SW – COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland, UK! The next United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), is scheduled to be held from November 9 – 19, 2020, in Glasgow. With the help of some of the Core Team members, Stuart is planning on producing another set of programs featuring influential guests. Many are calling this next COP the “do or die COP,” given the dismal results of COP25 in Madrid and the little amount of time we have remaining to make drastic changes. If you would like to help, there are two ways to assist Stuart and the team immensely:
SW Activities Our executive director, Stuart Scott, was recently interviewed by Patrick Hentschel of the Running on Empty Ecology Hour on KZYX, Mendacino’s Public and Community Radio, and will be posted on ScientistsWarning.TV soon. As National Director (UK) SW, Alison has been asked to take part in a panel discussion at University of East Anglia on March 5th, to debate the pros and cons of nuclear energy. This should be a lively debate. Alison has also been invited to join the Amnick International Team (https://amnick.com/ ), and will be speaking on the climate crisis at an online event on Thursday, 27th February. Amnick has wide reach, so this is a good opportunity to enhance the visibility of SW. Alison is also helping Plan B and XR to organise a major UK press conference on the climate crisis at the Royal Society on March 26th, with Professor Sir David King and other leading scientists speaking. SW UK – Local Action Participation If you would like to be notified, via email, of more local actions/activities being planned in the UK, please contact Bill Dowling. Please indicate your location as well as any specific interests you may have pertaining to the climate crisis. [email protected] Volunteers The Scientists’ Warning Team welcomes your assistance. It is quite by intention that we do not seek funding. First, it puts an organization in competition with other allied organizations for the scarce philanthropic funds available. Second, it subjects the organization to the editorial bias of the funders, which is sometimes subtle and sometimes overt. Third, establishing a budget based upon fundraising forces an organization to devote significant time and energy to covering the ongoing budget from month to month and year to year. Since we are not funded, all work of the Scientists’ Warning initiative (.org and .TV) is accomplished by our teams on a volunteer basis. Please consider joining one of these teams.
